Ecological requirements of Quercus polycarpa Schur in the south east of the Czech Republic

Different habitats with occurrence of Quercus polycarpa Schur were studied to describe characteristic ecological requirements of this oak species. In order to carry out the research, 60 experimental plots were set in 12 protected areas situated in southMoravia. Ecological conditions, some tree characteristics and representation of Q. polycarpa were evaluated on every plot. The measured trees characteristics were height, height of crown setting, diameter of stem at breast height and crown diameter. It has been found out that Q. polycarpa occurs in a high number in the 2nd and the 3rd vegetation zone. It often occurs in a great variety of habitats with different hydric and trophic conditions. Values of measured characteristics were lowest in the dry hydric category, the highest values were found in the normal hydric and mesic categories.

Czech description

Stanoviště s výskytem Q. polycarpa byla studována na 60 zkusných plochách ve 12 chráněných územích na jižní Moravě. Na každé ploše byly hodnoceny stanovištní podmínky a zastoupení Q. polycarpa. Dále byly měřeny výška, výška nasazení koruny, výčetní tloušťka a průměr koruny. Bylo zjištěno, že studovaný taxon je častý ve druhém a třetím vegetačním stupni, v téměř všech trofických a třech hydrických řadách. Hodnoty měřených charakteristik byly nejnižší v suché hydrické kategorii; nejvyšší hodnoty těchto charakteristik byly zjištěny v normální hydrické a mezotrofní trofické kategorii.
