Trail Riding as a Negative Environmental Phenomenon?

  • Original language description

Trail riding is a form of leisure activity which uses a horse as a companion or as a means of transport for trails. It has become highly popular recently as a sort of active spending of leisure time. However, as the number of horses and riders is rising, also the number of accidents or conflicts among groups of riders and also with owners and users of lands is increasing. This paper summarizes the current status and the issue of trail riding in general in the forests of the Czech Republic.
