Evaluation of results from the examination of timber casing of an underground cistern in Tepenec Castle
Original language description
The excavations on a promontory where the relics of a Late Bronze Age hillfort and the ruin of the 14th century Tepenec Castle are situated, are in progress already for many years, because the hill has been gradually diminished by exploitation since theend of 1960s. Today roughly the minor half of the hill is removed (the inner ward of the castle and a part of the bailey are already missing). That is why several past excavation campaigns in 1997-1999 and 2007-2008 have concentrated in the area of the bailey. During the most recent excavation in 2008 also a cistern was discovered and examined. The results of this examination, which contributed in a significant manner to the knowledge of the locality, are subject of this article.
