With the changed political situation also economic changes come and new technologies are being implemented. The earlier unified procedures have been replaced with multiple options of various methods for forest road constructions. However, we must not forget the needs of the forest ecosystem itself. All the elements which have to be taken into account gradually formulate new requirements concerning the ways in which forest roads are constructed and lay great demands on the education of a modern forester.Additionally, the construction of forest haul roads is often seen negatively as an interference with the forest ecosystem and taking up of forest stand area. On the other hand, it is often necessary for the economy of the forest. To minimize the negative impact of road constructions, it is necessary to obey some principles of forest roads building.
