The paper presents a general procedure for the selection of forest technologies based on the findings of scientific disciplines Operating reliability of machines and Qualimetry. Methods for the assessment of machines and technologies are modified so thatthey could provide for the selection of most appropriate procedures even in areas with a special status of nature conservation in line with EC directives in the field of nature conservation. An integral requirement is the respect to needs of forest owners especially as far as the property size is concerned and to economic possibilities of forest owners. The effect ensuing from the interconnection of commonly used information systems should bring integral indicators allowing for quick and correct decision-making.
