Chilocorus renipustulatus dominates ladybird assemblage (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) on Sorbus aucuparia (Rosales).
Original language description
We collected 15 species of ladybirds (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) on 31 localities situated in northern Bohemia, Czech Republic from May October 2008 on European Rowan or Mountain Ash (Sorbus aucuparia). The single species Chilocorus renipustulatus made 85% of all individuals (1697), other abundant species were Coccinella septempunctata, Calvia quatuordecimguttata, Adalia bipunctata and Adalia decempunctata. Invasive Harmonia axyridis was present but contributed by less than one per cent of all individuals. Niche overlap between pairs of ladybird species calculated as coefficient of community ranged from 0 to 0.288, and Morishita's index from 0 to 0.320. Cluster analysis suggests that environmental requirements are rather constrained phylogenetically, with pairs of congeneric species (two Chilocorus and two Calvia) closely related. Larvae of Ch. renipustulatus were abundant from mid June through August, and still present in October. Percentage of melanic individuals in polymorphic speci
