CNC Manufacturing Technology Case Study of an Armchair Design
Original language description
The objective of the paper is to demonstrate a design of an experimental construction of an armchair manufactured by unconventional technology using wooden composite -- plywood. The paper also presents other unconventional methods of machining and how they can be used when manufacturing wooden material/furniture. The flat pack armchair construction was made by a laser CNC machine using the nesting technology. The design of the construction refers to a possibility of using mechanical properties of material -- by designing springy parts which increase seat comfort. The armchair design resulted from a type of joint which was used, mechanical properties of material and natural motifs. The aim was to produce a simple and functional product of an interestingshape which meets ergonomic and safety requirements.
