Original language description
In this thesis are presented the results of research of the largest polycalic nests complex of ants of the species Formica foreli Bondroit, 1918 in the Czech Republic. This species belongs to the subgenus Coptoformica and in the Czech Republic are now only found in six locations. The researched complex, is situated in the area of Štěměchy, in region of Vysočina. On historical pasture, which is dated about 500 years ago, was in year 2012 (June) exactly 654 active nests of Formica foreli species. Averagedensity of pile was 10,5 per hectare and their height was around 1 to 35 cm (arithmetic mean 11,7 cm +- 4,66 cm, median 12 cm) and width from 6 to 77 cm (arithmetic mean 23,2 +- 10,59 cm, median 35 cm). Dyadic experiments (confrontation of pair of femaleworkers Formica foreli in false arena) supported hypothesis that this is a supercolony.
