Estimating Valuation Multiples: Case of Forestry Enterprises

Relative valuation is the most widely applied approach for the business valuation in general and the approach whose output is the closest to the definition of Market Value. Using valuation multiples generates a number of methodological questions in adjusting the multiples to the particular industry. In this paper, we identify the most accurate method of estimation the multiples for valuation forestry enterprises. Extensive secondary theoretical research in the theory of valuation was done for analysing the appropriate multiples. Math Gnostics is used vice versa is used in comparison with standard statistical location parameters to find the more proper mean value. Local and Global Gnostics' functions reached lower deviation to Market Value. Unique data form Warsaw Stock Exchange, Wood and Paper sector, Forestry Enterprises are used. The evidence shows that using the Gnostics' location parameters instead of statistical ones allows reached Market Value of forestry enterprises with higher accuracy.
