Mapping of Tusheti protected areas using remote sensing
Original language description
Maps are essential part of any kind of development. For forest inventory and creation of map's collection for forest management planning we firstly reviewed of recent maps. Than we searched for actual sources of remote sensed data and mapping possibilities of Tusheti protected areas. Very important for decision making during this process are questions what are your needs and what can we do generally. Methodology and data processing has been designed specifically for Tusheti region. Our steps in Tusheti were field measuring of training groups; spatial verification of training groups using GIS; remote sensing data analysis - specification of data and analysis of limits of methodology; analysis and creation of maps and then verification of outputs in the field plus post processing. Crucial parts for forest inventory in Tusheti region and its using for forest management for creation of digital surface model, slopes mapping, morphometrical parameters, types of surface structure, classification of surface materials, erosion models, hydrological models, ect. For Forest inventory of Tusheti protected areas was based on remote sensing (Sentinel 1, Multispectral data - Sentinel 2 and others, for example wide range of data processing - 13 bands (radiometric resolution) and data collection by detail measurement in forest (dendrometric data, phytocoenological classification, description of natural condition, tree species composition, etc). By this attitude, we created series of maps that will be used for forest management planning that overlap by nature conservation requirements and management risk prevention.
