Numerical analysis of single- and multi-point mechanical loading of branch
Original language description
Branch and tree stability is influenced by different kind of loading where wind is considered to be one of the major sources (Gardiner et al. 2016). The wind force is influenced by wide range of factors as terrain (Pirner and Fischer, 2003), drag coefficients of crown (Vollsinger et al., 2005), crown reconfiguration (Brüchert and Gardiner, 2006) etc. The effort to describe the wind force intensity as precise as possible is reduced by subsequent processing in stability assessment. The common concept presumes that force is acting in the one point (center of gravity) (Dahle et al., 2017). Advanced numerical methods open up possibilities to study the phenomena of multi-point loading (Ciftci et al., 2014). The aim of this study is to provide numerical analysis of reactions of branches which are one- and multi-point loaded.
