Soil moisture changes in the absence of grazing pressure in heavily grazed areas
Original language description
Mongolian forest ecosystems are heavily affected by excessive grazing. More than 65 miles of cattle are mainly responsible for the inability of the stands to regenerate naturally. As part of the project of the Czech Development Agency - Posting of Teachers, Forestry and Landscape Training Course in Mongolia, permanent plots were established where the effect of grazing on soil moisture and temperature is monitored. We suppose that on areas not affected by grazing, the surface of the soil will be overshadowed by the development of the herb layer and the continuous growth of seedlings, resulting in increased soil moisture and a decrease in soil temperature.
