    Evaluation of Gloss Meters Between Solvent-Based and Waterborne-Based Epoxy Coating Materials

    Epoxy coating materials are extensively used for their excellent corrosion resistance and durability. Gloss is an important property of epoxy coatings, and its measurement is necessary to assure the relevant presence and quality of the coating. In this study, the performance of a PicoGloss 503 glossmeter was evaluated for measuring the gloss of two different epoxy coatings: waterborne-based and solvent-based epoxt coating material. The results showed that the gloss values obtained for the waterborne-based epoxy coating were higher than those obtained for the solvent-based epoxy coating. The study highlights the importance of selecting the appropriate glossmeter and calibration procedures when measuring the gloss of epoxy coatings. The findings of this study can provide valuable insights for the selection and evaluation of gloss measurement method for epoxy coatings.
