Sap flow index as an indicator of plant water status

  • Original language description

Sap flow index (SFI), measured by the heated probe method with thermocouples arranged symmetricaly around a continuously heated linear heater, can be used to characterize internal plant water balance. Over the range of low sap flow rates, where other methods of measuring sap flow are not sensitive, this method is linear and very sensitive.
