Original language description
Target SSR markers developed to a genome region that governs resistance to PPV in apricot were employed to reveal genetic relationship of cultivars involved in breeding for resistance to PPV. Plant material representative of Chinese and Central Asian centers of apricot domestication and wild population of prunus armeniaca L., were analyzed together with cultivars used in PPV resistance breeding. In total 66 alleles at 6 target SSR loci were identified and used for cluster analysis. The generated dendrogram supports the importance of Chinese germplasm for introducing natural resistance into North American cultivars.
