A pomological evaluation of plum cultivars in the Czech Republic
Original language description
The collection of plum genotypes in the Lednice area is located in one of the warmest regions in the Czech Republic. It has an average annual temperature of 9.1°C, an altitude of 170 m a.s.l. and 442 mm of average annual rainfall. The planting was established in 2000 and 'Stanley' was chosen as the control cultivar. The cultivars were collected from different countries such as the Czech Republic, Serbia, Romania, Germany, Canada, Bulgaria, Sweden and the USA. Evaluations were conducted from 2004 to 2010. The following traits were evaluated: the beginning and intensity of the flowering, the beginning of fruit ripening, fruit weight and fruit soluble solids. Perspective cultivars, which are promising for commercial plantations, were chosen; for example,'Topking','Empress', 'Cacak fruitfull','Katinka','Carpatin','Pitestean','Chrudimska' and 'Valor'.
