Study on the descriptors of Callistephus chinensis NEES
Original language description
Although the importance of genus Callistephus still increases in practical flower growing, there is no description to map the high cultivar variability in hundreds of cultivated races. In some research instituts, large number of attributes was evaluatedin a wide range of cultivars, but the chosen measurements do not suffice for the evaluation of seed applicability. This fact is important mainly for the use of seeds in flower breeding to obtain required quality. The descriptors, which was developed on closed genera is not usefull, considering that each genus has its own specific characters. That is why we propose 16 morphological descriptors, eight phenological descriptors and eight descriptors for evaluation of sensitivity of cultivars to diseases, pests and other stress factors. The description is completed with passport data, which are necessary for storage of seeds in genebanks.
