Basic quantitative and qualitative parameters of soil organic matter including: Total humus content, Humification degree, Fractional composition, Ratio CHA : CFA - have been studied in Žabčice since 1971. The soil is under intensive agriculture (NorfolkCrop Rotation System) and selected soil properties are given in Table I. For this reason humic acids (HA) were isolated and their quality in detail studied (UV - VIS spectra, Q4/6 and E4/6 ratios, elementary composition). Total content of some trace elements was measured to stress their environmental functions. Investigation showed that there were statistically significant differences in quality of soil organic matter and humus content during the experiment (Table II - a,b,c). Total humus content was low, ratio CHA : CFA was about 1 and gradually increases during the period of experiment. The last is evident from the results of fractional composition of SOM (Table III). Humification degree was middle (between 20 - 30%).
