Intesification of the biological stage in the sewage treatment plant as a protection against filamentous swelling.
Original language description
Heavy filamentous swelling of activated sludge was found in a sewage treatment plant, which resulted from the character of entering waste waters. These were originating mainlingfrom a malting house and brevery. The biological section of the line consistedof a selector, a circulatory aeration tank and an additional sedimentation tank. For protection againstagainst filamentous swelling, the technology was altered in such way that the accumulation capacity of activated sludge was restored. Intesification consisted in the use of selectorandin the division of circulatory aeration into regeneration and activation with pre-denitrification and nitrification. The intensification resulted in essential stabilization of the purification process, which corroboratedefficiency of the -selector-activation-regeneration- system for the suppression of filamentous swelling induced by waste waters containing glukose-type sugars.
