Acidification of forest soils in the Czech Republic
Original language description
Acidification of forest soils in both regions (the Drahanská Upland and the Moravian-Silesian Beskids) were studied. The existing level of deposition and the supply of soil sulphur in surface humus on the site in Rájec nad Svitavou together with effectsderived from the changed species composition of stands resulted in increasing the acidity of soils and gradual impoverishment of the soil profile by important nutrients. In the region of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, significant decrease in soil reactionin a range of 0.5 - 0.8 pH occurred in the whole profile in past 30 years. With respect to the insufficient decrease in the level of acid deposition in the CR forest soil acidification will continue.
