Macroelement content in leaves of birch
Original language description
The content of macroelements (S, N, P, Ca, Mg, K) in leaves of birch growing in the Krušné hory Mts., a territory affected by air pollution (SO2), was evaluated with regard to the transects, altitude and age class of birch stands and in relation to treenutrition. With the exception of nitrogen content, the transects differ in their element content.Differences were also found at particular altitudes of the transects, however, without specific dependence. The S and N contents were not related to the standage. From the viewpoint of birch nutrition, the K and partly N contents were insufficient, S, Mg and first of all Ca contents were sufficient. The P content was generally slightly higher, only in the SNE transect insufficient. The element ratios were also evaluated.
