The paper is focused on assessing the development of an external debt of the Czech Republic as a whole and in its structure in the selected reference period 1995-2001. Effects were evaluated of particural types of the formation of a total debt and the development of conditions of the ratio of the external debt to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Czech Republic in the selected period. Methods of regression and correlation analysis and development trends . were used for the mathematical-statisticalanalysis.
