New methodical approach to evaluation of the body mass growth in heifers of the Bohemian Spotted strain
Original language description
The body mass growth of the crossbred heifers of the Bohemian Spotted and the Danish Red breeds, evaluated by the simultaneous use of the classic exponential growth function and the biological growth model was successful. The method enabled to evaluate the interaction between the actual state of the energy balance of the heifers and the expression of their genetic potential in the actual environment. The results reached demonstrate that the development and the body mass growth of heifers, together withthe course of their pregnancy and the intrauterine body mass growth of the calves, does not depend on the content of the different proportion of the concentrates in the feed rations. The variation of the different proportions of concentratesin the heifersfeed ranging between the +30% in comparison with the standard control feed, did not have any influence, so long as the total content of the metabolizable energy was maintained equal
