Original language description
The object of this study was to determine whether the parity of sows affects the changes of vaginal and vestibular impedance during the peri-oestrus. Primiparous and multiparous sows of the Large White breed and the crossbreeds Large White and Landrace were used. Vaginal impedance was measured by a four-electrode method. Vestibular impedance was measured by a two-electrode method. Impedance measurements were carried out twice a day from the onset of oestrus to the 3rd day after oestrus onset. Sows weredivided based on the number of previous pregnancies. The results indicated that the parity of sows affects the electrical impedance of vagina, but not vaginal vestibule.
