Original language description
The main objective of the paper is to determine which of the methods of theoretical calculation of cutting power mostly approaches to the reality. Therefore, an experiment was selected of the lengtwise cutting of wood by a circular saw blade. Moment of torsion and the size of feed force are measured quantities while cutting rate is a constant quantity and feed rate and the thickness of a ripped material are variables. For the theoretical calculation, four methods were used. By means of comparisons withmeasured values it has been experimentally confirmed that the analytical method of calculation approaches most to the reality. The volume method and the tabular force method showed the smallest congruence with the experiment. The experiment also corroborated an increase in cutting power and feed force with feed rate
