Possibilities of growing Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii /Mirb./ Franco) in the conception of sustainable forest management
Original language description
The paper is a contribution for a discussion on the permissible participation of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii /Mirb./ Franco) under conditions of the Czech Republic. It starts from the conception of sustainable forest management. From the viewpointof methodology, the study is based on monitoring the effect of different species composition (various participa-tion of Douglas fir) on basic pedochemical properties. Simultaneously, problems of mineral nutrition of Douglas fir were studied through leafanalyses. Investigations were carried out in relation to the study of the production and stability of a mixed stand (age 73 years) on a nutri-ent-rich site of the Křtiny Training Forest Enterprise. The determined decrease of basic nutrients (calcium andmagnesium) in the humus horizon (A) under Douglas fir indicates the soil impoverishment. Leaf analyses did not show any significant deficiencies in Douglas fir nutrition.
