Copper(II) complexes of Schiff bases derived from beta-amino acids and their biological activity
Original language description
Alloxan-induced diabetes was used as a model of free radical pathology to test antiradical activity of aqua-bis(-salicylidene-beta-alaninato)dicopper(II) monohydrate and N-salicylidenetaurinatocopper(II) monohydrate in vivo. Intravenous administration ofalloxan resulted in expressive in the mice hyperglycaemia. Pretreatment of animals with tested compounds in dose 0,04 mmol/kg significantly reduced the elevated blood glucose levels to normal ones. The antidiabetic action of copper complexes is more effective than conventionally used hydroxyl radical scavenger TROLOX.
