Occurence of antibiotic resistant Salmonella spp. isolates in the wastewater treatment plant effue
Original language description
In our study, we investigated the occurrence of antibiotic resistant Salmonella spp. in municipal wastewater treatment plant (MWTP) in Brno - Modřice. Gauze strips were exposed 7 days in MWTP effluent and transported to laboratory. In total 36 individualsamples were collected in the year 2012. All of tested samples were Salmonella positive. Fourteen different Salmonella serotypes have been identified. The most frequent serotypes were represented with the S. Mbandaka (19 %), S. Agona (16 %), following with the S. Ohio (11 %), S. Enteritidis (8 %) and S. Montevideo (8 %). The antibiotic susceptibility of strains to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, ampicillin, cephalothin, ceftazidime, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, nalidixic acid, streptomycin,sulphamethoxazole-trimethoprim, sulphonamides and tetracycline was evaluated using the disk-diffusion method. Five isolates (14 %) with antibiotic resistance were found, including one serotype of S. Kentucky, resistant to 9 different ant
