Factors influencing induction of accessory corpus luteum by GnRH in inseminated cows
Original language description
Induction of an accessory corpus luteum in cows after insemination can have a beneficial effect on progesterone concentration and conception rate. The object of this study was to evaluate the treatment effect of several factors. The induction was performed by intramuscular administration of GnRH (lecirelin) in 414 cows bearingone corpus luteum on day 7 or 13 after insemination. Transrectal ultrasonography was performed on the day of treatment (detection of corpus luteum and evaluation of the largest follicle) and 25- 39 days (detection of pregnancy and number of corpora lutea) after the insemination. Occurrence of 2 (rarely 3) corpora lutea was evaluated inrelation to time of the treatment (day 7 vs. 13), diameter of the largest follicle at the treatment (?9 mm vs. 10-14 mm vs. 15-20 mm), breed and yielding (crossbreeds of Czech Fleckvieh, 7000-7500 l vs. Holstein 8500-9000 l), parity (primipara vs. pluripara), quality of estrus (spontaneous vs. synchronized) and sequence of the insemi
