Neuroedocrine carcinoma of the heart base in a dog
Original language description
Pericardial effusion is most commonly associated with heart masses. The severity depends on the volume and pressure in the pericardial space. Heart tumours are very rare in small animals. Frequency of the primary heart tumours was reported as 0.12% to 5.73%.1 The most common heart neoplasms in small animals are hemangiosarcoma, chemodectoma, paraganglioma and mesothelioma. Neuroendocrine carcinoma is very rare in small animals and humans.2 It was never published as a heart neoplasm in a dog.
