Respiratory Disorders in Rabbits.

  • Original language description

Respiratory disorders are very common in rabbits. Rabbits are obligate nasal breathers, so any nasal airway obstruction (even "simple" rhinitis) can cause severe respiratory distress. Diagnosis is based on the combination of clinical examination (thoracic auscultation), imaging methods and pathogen isolation. Long -term use of antibiotics is advocated only in rare cases. Computed tomography and endoscopy will allow to identify the aetiology in chronic sneezing rabbits and allow targeted treatment.
