Seroprevalence of antibodies to leptospires in the hare (Lepus europaeus Pall.).
Original language description
It was found that the hare is highly susceptible to the infection by leptospires while the etiological structure of leptospiral antibodies corresponds to that of small mammals. It is, therefore, possible to use blood sera from hares for the monitoring ofnatural foci occurrence of leptospirosis in the environment. As far as the direct infection of man and the maintanance of the natural focus are concerned, hares have only limited importance.
