Apart from nutrients, trace elements and organic compounds, river sediments can also contain harmful substances. These substances are transformed in the food chain and can show negative effects on the organisms (such as fish and humans) which consume them. Our study presents the results of bioassays performed to evaluate the phytotoxicity and zootoxicity of samples of sediments taken from the river Morava at the Velehrad and Kostelany sites.
