Vliv vzdálenosti na vybrané biochemické ukazatele krevní plazmy při přepravě brojlerů na jatky

  • Original language description

The effects of distance on selected biochemical indicators (corticosterone, uric acid, triglycerides, total protein, glucose and lactate) during transportation to the slaughterhouse were monitored in a group of unsexed ROSS 308 broiler chickens aged 42 days. The broilers were sampled before (after catching, crating and loading) and after transport over tree different travel distances (10 km, 70 km and 130 km). The corticosterone level after handling were significantly (P < 0,01) higher than in broilersafter transport in all distances. The results obtained indicated that pre-transport manipulation with broilers may be more stressful than transport itself. To improve broiler meat quality, it is necessary to provide the recovery before slaughtering.
