Study of the impact of selected platinum group metals on producers in aquatic ecosystems
Original language description
The study of platinum group elements (PGEs), particularly platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd) and rhodium (Rh) is demanding much more of our attention, especially in the evaluation of the environmental burden. The significant source of these metals is road traffic and the residues of widely used platinum based cytostatics. Wastewater from hospitals and physical conditions inside of the automobile catalysts (high temperature, mechanical, chemical reactions) can cause the emission of these metals to the environment. The aim of our work was to investigate the influence of platinum (PtCl4) on duckweed (Lemna minor). For the test conditions we used a modified OECD 221 (CSN EN ISO 20079). The modification consists in using polystyrene macroplates. We studied the impact of various platinum concentrations (1, 10 and 100 mýmol.l-1) on the antioxidant activity of plants. The samples were collected 2nd, 4th and 6th day of the experiment. Photometric analysis was used to monitor the content and changes
