In total, 661 fecal samples of ravens from localities near Ústí nad Labem (Czech Republic) and Prešov (Slovakia) were examined (nÚstí nad Labem = 374, nPrešov = 287) for the presence of bacteria resistant to fluoroquinolones in which the resistance genes were localized on plasmids. The prevalences of Escherichia coli strains with reduced susceptibility to ciprofloxacin were 21 % and 21 % among ravens from Ústí nad Labem and Prešov, respectively. The prevalences of Klebsiella pneumoniae strains with reduced susceptibility to ciprofloxacin were 19 % and 14 % in ravens from Ústí nad Labem and Prešov, respectively. Plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance genes qnrB17, qnrB19, qnrS1, qnrS2 and oqxAB were found in E. coli resistant strains. In K. pneumoniae resistant strains, plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance genes qnrB19 and oqxAB were found.
