Original language description
In comparison with other countries in Europe, the 137Cs contamination in Slovakia is very low. The highest reported concentration of 137Cs (25 Bq.kg-1) was observed in the wild boar stomach content from Zlate Moravce (Nitra district) region, as a consequence of consumption of food with cumulative effect of radiocaesium. In 21 wild boar samples from all over Slovakia, no correlation (-0.069) in-between the 137Cs activity in soil (44.7 Bq.kg-1 in average) and wild boars stomach content (2.5 Bq.kg-1 in average) was found. It appears that in terms of the food chain contamination by 137Cs, the biotic factor may play a more important role than soil contamination.
