Original language description
The aim of the study was to evaluate the age effect on selected biochemical parameters in young rabbits of the Dwarf Lop breed. In the experiment, a total of 16 rabbits (8 males and 8 females) were used. The blood samples were taken at 8th and 15th week of the age. The basic biochemical profile was determined using the blood plasma. All of the examined parameters were in physiological reference ranges. With respect to the age effect, we found increase in the concentration of total protein (P < 0.05), creatinine (P < 0.01) and activity of alanine aminotransferase (P < 0.05). On the other hand, the age-related decrease was found in the level of glucose and activity of alkaline phosphatase (P < 0.01).
