Original language description
This study focused on the mortality among turkeys transported for slaughter in the Czech Republic from 2009 to 2016. For the purposes of the study the monitored period was divided in two periods: Period I (2009-2012) and Period II (2013-2016). Significantly higher mortality was found in the first period in comparison with the second period. From the welfare point of view the finding is positive as the number of dead birds on arrival was found to have a decresing tendency.
