The software was developed in the Delphi XE10 development environment, which allows to create an easily portable system without the need for special installation. The application is started by the file ScanPositionsGenerator.exe. The software primarily creates a data file for controlling a microscope with an xyz sliding stage. Based on a pre-estimated number of pollen grains of the sample, random positions of each image are generated according to a recognized scanning methodology. The software allows to generate the optimal position and number of images needed for the actual analysis of the sample in order to guarantee coverage of the defined field of observation and to avoid unwanted overlapping of individual images (redundant observations).
