MRI findings induced by antipsychotic treatment and animal models of schizophrenia-like pathology
Original language description
Schizophrenia (SCZ) is a debilitating mental illness resulting in multiple structural and functional brain changes. We used Arterial Spin Labelling MRI technique in all studies to evaluate cerebral blood perfusion in SCZ-related brain regions using Bruker BioSpec 94/30 scanner. Study 1 was focused on the effect of acute and chronic olanzapine exposure. The aim of Study 2 was the evaluation of blood brain perfusion in two animal models of the SCZ-like phenotype. Study 3 was focused on the evaluation of cerebral blood perfusion in the well validated poly(I:C) model of SCZ in Wistar rats taking into account sex-dependent effects and the effect of aripiprazole treatment.
