    STABILIZATION OF ASPHALTENES IN FUEL OILS

    Stability of bitumen depends on the colloidal structure and on the presence of reactive functionalities, i.e. free radicals and polar functional groups. Suitable additives can be used for improvement of bitumen stability including radical scavengers, peptizing agents or additives with barrier effect. The goal of our work was testing of suitable additives for improvement of bitumen thermal stability and comparison of results from long-term ageing methods PAV and 3x RTFOT. Experiments were carried out with semi-blown bitumen produced from primar vacuum residues.
