In three groups of domestic ecotypes of Lolium perenne L. differing by the degree of contamination with hyphae of endophytic fungi Neotyphodium spp. in the seed and leaf sheaths, the incidence of the endophyte in the seeds of three subsequent generationswas investigated. In the group of plants with originally high contamination there was no significant change in the high content of endophytes, but in the two groups with moderate or low content they substantially increased in the final stage of the hostplants. This indicates stability of the mutualistic relationship between host plant and endophyte and the ability to balance an originaly at least inconvenient relation
