Repatriation of germplasm accessions of czech/slovak lost grass varieties.

  • Original language description

In the former Czechoslovakia, grass breeding was located in the three distinct regions of Southern Bohemia and Northern Moravia in the 1920?s and later Slovakia in 1940?s. This resulted in the development and cultivation of 45 cultivars of 17 grass species. Each cultivar originated from local ecotypes and was named after the place of breeding, namely Táborský (-á) and Větrovský (-á) in Bohemia, Rožnovský (-á) in Moravia and Levočský (-á) in Slovakia. Most of these historical cultivars were not preservedin any germplasm collection until systematic work on plant genetic resources began in the research institutes. A national inventory showed that the number of missing accessions amounted to 27 of 34 deleted varieties. Using the European Central Crop Databases and the EURISCO web catalogue, other European genebanks were identified as the holders of nine accessions of Czech and/or Slovak origin and were asked for their repatriation. Thanks to international co-operation and successful regen

Repatriace genofondových položek ztracených československých odrůd trav
