The École Biblique and its Influence on Czech Catholic exegesis and Church
Original language description
Since its foundation, the EBAF has accepted students of the Czech origin (before 1918 citizens of the Austrian monarchy, after 1918 citizens of Czechoslovakia), mostly diocese priests sent to study the Catholic exegesis at this modern progressive research site. Especially in the first decades of its existence, there were nine regular students and several guest students whose life and contribution to the Czech and the world Catholic exegesis (Zapletal OP) or to Orientalism (Alois Musil) is documented inthe article. In the following parts the article deals with the influence of the EBAF on the Czech Church after the World War II that culminated in the recent complete edition of the Jerusalem Bible in Czech.
