The Innovative Teaching Methods in the Databases Courses on FIM UHK

This paper describes e-learning methods and tools used at the University of Hradec Králové. In the database courses, the theoretical issues are supplemented with practical training. The students elaborate two simple projects at the first database course.At the second course students operate in groups. Student's teams are formed in order to develop an operating database application for a real (or virtual) organization as small businesses or services organizations. Students must go through all stages ofdatabase development - analysis, conceptual, logical and physical design. In the third course Modern information systems students participate in the development of real-life application. We started working hard to transform these subjects into the on-line form in year 2000. We aimed at using as many possibilities as the virtual study environment WebCT can offer.
