Eigenproblem for Circulant Matrices in Max-min Algebra
Original language description
Investigation of the eigenproblem in max-min algebra is important for applications connected with questions of system reliability, or with fuzzy relations. The problem has been studied by many authors and interesting results were found, such as algorithms for computing the maximal eigenvector of a given max-min matrix, or for computing the eigenspace dimension. In the cases, when the matrix has some special properties, the computational complexity of the algorithms can be lowered. In this contribution the eigenproblem for circulant max-min matrices is considered. A square matrix is called circulant, if the input values in every row of the matrix are the same as the values in the previous row, but they are cyclically shifted by one position to the right. The structure and the dimension of the eigenspace of a circulant max-min matrix is described, and a polynomial algorithm for computing the maximal eigenvector and the dimension is presented.
