Indigenous knowledge is the basis for local-level decision-making in agriculture, health care, food preparation, education, natural resource management, and a host of other activities in rural communities. Due to its practical approach it can be used tofacilitate communication among people coming from different backgrounds such as researchers, development practitioners, and beneficiaries. The management and transfer of knowledge are crucial to the transfer of culture and wisdom. In the paper, we wish to highlight some of the motives that raise the indispensability of indigenous knowledge, and suggest some modes for managing indigenous knowledge.
