Development of interactive digital television (iDTV) functionalities enables this technology to be incorporated into e-Learning frameworks and become a component of smart environment which can help elderly to increase their quality of lives. This paper aims to provide an analysis of verbal and non-verbal human to TV-based application voice interaction for the specific target group, and compare it with other available interaction modalities. The tests reveal that voice interaction is accepted by elderlyonly if traditional control devices are not available. The results also stress that in case of elderly combination of two new ways of interaction is not generally accepted. However, it is possible to include iDTV into the learning platform with the helpof all investigated interaction modalities.
