    This article is a summary of thesis aimed at designing functional model of artificial life. The model is based on fuzzy cognitive maps (FCM). The ecosystem simulation provides limited resources to thousands of individuals interacting with the environment. The intelligence of individuals is driven by enhanced FCM. Evolutionary principles are also involved in the simulation. It provides individuals with a possibility of development and adaptation to actual conditions. Evolutionary principles are used to modify decision-making models, and therefore give individuals ability to adapt behaviour.
